When a worker's report fails only on length (a line 5 characters too long), the whole ticket restarts and the work is done again. Test: a worker's report comes back with a too-long line — the scheduler lets it shorten the report, the work stays, the ticket goes on to the check. Details:

  • Seen 3 times on 2026-09-27: tracker#1 (twice) and tracker#3 — finished, gated work thrown away because decided[1] had 125 of 120 characters; each restart costs ~10 min and ~$1.
  • Give the "fix your report" step up to 3 tries, each time listing the exact problems (field, length, limit).
  • Only when the report is still refused after that does the ticket go back to open.
  • Proof: an e2e case with a fake worker whose first two reports are too long — the third passes, no second work session starts.

    Now live on container antcolony-scheduler (restart by the architect) — A worker's too-long report is fixed in place (up to 3 tries) instead of restarting the ticket.

    Test:

    1. A worker whose report comes back too long now gets fixed instead of restarting.
    2. The ticket only restarts if the report stays wrong after 3 fix tries.
    • Decided: Kept the earlier fixPrompt wording and FAKE_FINALIZE_MODE comma-list format — matches the ask, tests pass.
